South Doyle Varsity Football (0-1) opened up on the road last Friday Night with a hard-fought loss to non-region opponent Lenoir City (1-0) 24-21.
The South Doyle Defense came up with 4 forced fumbles on the night. Sophomore LB Isaiah Winfield (23) led the way defensively with 10 total tackles. Avery Westfield (3), Jeremiah Smith (8), Demorris McKenzie (11), and Dee Jay Dollison (12) all had fumble recoveries for the Cherokees.
Offensively, Senior Taeshawn Gary totaled 264 all-purpose yards with 128 coming on the ground. Doasha Clabough (6), Maddox Cupp (1), and Taeshawn Gary (21) all scored touchdowns with Senior Rolondo Phillips (7) scored a two-point conversion.
The JV Kees came through with a big win to open the JV season on Monday Night at Lenoir City 28-14.
